INCREASE STITCHES
These photos and instruction show double crochet stitch being used. Instructions would be the same for other stitches too. Increasing in this way is creating 2 stitches in the same space where you would ordinarily only create one stitch.

Make 1 double crochet stitch as per normal

Insert the hook through the same loops from stitch on previous row as used for the first double crochet. Wrap yarn over hook

Drawing the hook backwards pull yarn through (there are now 2 loops on hook)

Wrap yarn over hook, drawing the hook backwards through both the loops on the hook

One loop remains on hook and second double crochet stitch is completed. There are now 2 stitches in the same space
